Extension of czech health insurance ERGO

Extension of comprehensive health insurance from company ERGO only for concluded contracts before August 1, 2021

On 2 August 2021, the Act amending Act No. 326/1999 Coll., On the Residence of Foreigners in the Czech Republic, entered into force.

The change in the law will in no way affect clients who concluded an insurance contract before 1 August 2021 (inclusive). Existing clients can continue to use the services under the general conditions of the insurance company without restrictions and extend existing contracts for another period in accordance with the law of the Czech Republic.

By the czech law, health insurance is compulsory for short-term and long-term stays of foreigners from countries outside the European Union in the Czech Republic who are not participants in public health insurance due to their employment or business in the Czech Republic.

Comprehensive health insurance is intended for foreign nationals who are permanently or short-term in the Czech Republic. Whether the reason for the stay is study, work or family reunification, in order to obtain or extend a visa, it is necessary to have arranged health insurance for foreigners to a defined extent.

The product from the ERGO insurance company, „Welcome“ is comprehensive health insurance for foreigners) and is in accordance with Act No. 326/1999 Coll. on the stay of foreigners and is therefore easily recognized by the Ministry of the Interior, Department of Asylum and Migration Policy.

Insurance in the scope of comprehensive health insurance must be taken out by a foreigner who applies for a visa extension in the Czech Republic or applies for a visa at the embassy of the Czech Republic abroad for a stay of more than 90 days.

The subject of the insurance are costs related to the stay of the insured in the territory of the Czech Republic, which arose within the medical treatment. The insurance also applies to departures from the Czech Republic to other Schengen states.

The subject of the insurance, the WELCOME product, are also demonstrable costs incurred in connection with medical expenses in connection with the COVID-19 disease. The Insurance covers proved costs which arose in the context of medical expenses related to COVID-19. Tests for COVID-19 must be indicated by a physician or regional hygiene station of the Czech Republic.
