Banks in the Czech Republic

Most banks in the Czech Republic have foreign owners and are a part of big supranational bank institutions.

The most renown and popular banks in the Czech Republic are: Československá obchodní banka (ČSOB, Czechoslovak Business Bank) , Komerční banka (Commercial Bank), City bank, Česká spořitelna, Raiffeisen Bank, UniCredit Bank.

Current account in foreign currency

It is for natural persons, entrepreneurs and companies. It serves for a fast and reliable payment contact both in the Czech Republic and abroad.

The client can keep more current accounts in various foreign currencies or in the same currency such as: EUR, USD, CHF, GBP, CAD, DKK, JPY, SEK).

The advantage of this account is the possibility of authorising other persons to use the finances in the account to realise cash and cashless payments in an optional currency stated in the exchange rate sheet.

You can control your account via internet banking from anywhere you are.

Conditions of opening an account:

The account can be opened by citizens of a foreign state or by citizens of the Czech Republic of 18 years of age and over, who need to prove the identity of the account holder and of the persons authorised to use the account. Legal persons must prove their legal subjectivity and the identity of the persons authorised to act on their behalf. It is necessary to conclude a written agreement between the account owner and the bank, to create the signature sample of the client and of the persons authorised to use the account. It is necessary to make a basic deposit in the amount of 1000 CZK to the account.

Current account in Czech currency

It is for entrepreneurs and small companies, for public sector and for the non-profit sector. It is only in Czech currency and serves exclusively for business activity.

International payment cards make it also possible to realise cashless payment for goods and services accepting the payment cards. There is a possibility to use telephone or computer (GSM banking), in order to control the account comfortably 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. You can apply for an overdraft account for the current account.

It is possible to authorise other persons to use the finances on the account. Deposits on current accounts are insured in accordance with the law.

Conditions of opening an account:

It is necessary to prove legal subjectivity and identity and to conclude a written agreement between the account owner and the bank. You need to make a basic deposit in the amount of 1000 CZK to the account.

Personal Account Student

It is for all students of any full-time studies from 15 to 30 years of age, both citizens of CZR and citizens of a foreign state. Personal crown account for students is for free for the entire period of the studies.

You will receive for free for the entire period of your studies:

operation of the account and monthly electronic statements, international payment card allowing cashless payments with many discounts in selected shops, access to the account 24 hours a day via internet and mobile phone, all withdrawals of cash through the cash dispenser (ATM), establishment of all regular payments (e.g. a standing order or consent with a regular payment of a mobile phone, student accommodation, rental etc.)

Conditions of opening an account:

if you are under 18 years of age you can open an account only accompanied by your parent and you need your identity card and birth certificate if you are 18 years of age and over, you just need your identity card or passport and a current student certificate (of full-time study), (max. 30 days old student certificate from a school in the Czech Republic, max. 60 days old from a school abroad).
